Does Safeco match agent donations to nonprofit organizations? No. In the event of certain tragedies, Safeco will inform our agents of the opportunity to have personal or agency donations made to select nonprofit organizations providing relief and rebuilding assistance to individuals, families, and communities impacted by natural disasters matched dollar-for-dollar up to an annual cumulative total of $5,000.
What is the deadline to register my matching gift request? After receiving notice of Safeco’s intention to match donations made to select nonprofit organizations, agents will have 60 days in which to register their donation and request a matching gift from Safeco.
I'm a retired agent. Can I request Safeco’s sponsorship of an upcoming community event? The support offered through the Safeco Agent Giving Program is limited to active Safeco agents only.
How do I know if the organization I want to nominate qualifies for a grant or sponsorship? To qualify for a Safeco grant or sponsorship, an organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) organization, work in one of our four focus areas, and not discriminate in regard to age, gender, sexual orientation, skin color, national origin, religion or presence of disability.
What is a 501 (c)(3) organization? 501(c)(3) is a section of the Federal Tax Code that establishes the criteria for tax-exempt charitable organizations. Organizations other than government agencies, public schools, and universities must have this status in order to receive matching funds and tax-deductible gifts.
Are there limits to the number of grant nominations a given agent may submit each year? There are no limits to the number of grant nominations you may submit each year, but please keep the following policies in mind:
• Only one grant will be awarded per organization, per year.
• Grants awarded through the Safeco Agent Giving Program should be delivered to the recipient organization by the nominating agent whenever possible.
If I’m unable to submit my grant or Community Hero Award nomination electronically, what should I do?

How can I find individual volunteer opportunities? Almost all nonprofit organizations seek volunteers. If you’d like to start volunteering, begin by inquiring about available volunteer positions at organizations with missions that interest you. If you don’t know where to start, try searching for opportunities through VolunteerMatch.org.
If I need help, whom do I contact? Lily Grainger at 206-473-5928 or giving@safeco.com.
