FAQ
- What are your giving guidelines?
Please review Safeco Agent Giving Program giving guidelines to learn more about our focus areas and restrictions. - Does Safeco match agent donations to nonprofit organizations?
No. - I'm a retired agent. Can I request Safeco’s sponsorship of an upcoming community event?
The support offered through the Safeco Agent Giving Program is limited to active Safeco agents only. - How do I know if the organization I want to nominate qualifies for a grant or sponsorship?
To qualify for an Agent-directed Grant or Sponsorship from Safeco or the Safeco Insurance Foundation, an organization must be a registered 501(c)(3) organization, work in one of our focus areas, and meet our required guidelines. - What is a 501 (c)(3) organization?
501(c)(3) is a section of the Federal Tax Code that establishes the criteria for tax-exempt charitable organizations. Organizations other than government agencies, public schools, and universities must have this status in order to receive matching funds and tax-deductible gifts. - Are there limits to the number of grant requests a given agent may submit each year?
There are no limits to the number of grant requests you may submit each year, but please keep the following policies in mind:
• Only one grant will be awarded per organization, per year.
• Grants awarded through the Safeco Agent Giving Program should be delivered to the recipient organization by the nominating agent whenever possible. - Can a group of agencies pool their requests to direct a large grant to one charity?
Safeco typically provides one grant per charity per year with rare exception. If multiple agents within a community are seeking Safeco support -- Safeco recommends one agent take the lead by outlining in their request the number of agents involved in raising funds for the given charity. Please do not send a series of different grant requests for the same charity in an effort to generate large-scale funding support. - If I’m unable to submit my grant/sponsorship request or Community Hero Award nomination electronically, what should I do?
Please send a paper copy of your completed electronic request or nomination to:

- How can I find individual volunteer opportunities?
Almost all nonprofit organizations seek volunteers. If you’d like to start volunteering, begin by inquiring about available volunteer positions at organizations with missions that interest you. If you don’t know where to start, try searching for opportunities through VolunteerMatch.org. - If I need help, whom do I contact?
