Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program Guidelines*

At Safeco Insurance, we do what's right so agents and customers can do more. One of the ways we help agents do more is through the Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program.

The Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program support and honors the civic engagement of Safeco agents and recognizes and celebrates individuals and nonprofit organizations that make a difference in their communities.

Safeco agents are encouraged to nominate:

Program Types

To maximize its giving, the Safeco Insurance Agent Giving Program has defined three primary focus areas for Grants and Community Hero Awards. To be considered for the Agent Giving Program, the nonprofit organization's overall work or specific program should be in one or more of the following areas.

Education
Safeco Insurance gives priority to educational programs that encourage disadvantaged youth to excel in grade school, high school and/or secondary education, as well as after-school programs.

Health and Safety
Safeco Insurance favors organizations and causes that are committed to improving the quality of life and safety in our communities; eliminating or controlling hazards in the home and on the highways; and helping people disabled by injury or disease return to productive lives on and off the job.

Civic Engagement
Safeco Insurance also supports arts and cultural programs, community and economic development initiatives, and combined appeals.

Places

Through the Agent Giving Program, Safeco Insurance contributes its funding in communities where our agents present strong nominations indicating their involvement and commitment to organizations or programs that fit within our focus areas.

Population

Youth
Safeco Insurance invests much of its funding in youth.  Priority is given to mentoring and afterschool programs for kids within the previously mentioned program areas.

People with Disabilities
Safeco Insurance supports organizations that serve people with disabilities as well as programs and projects that promote inclusion.

Types of Support

General Operating Support
General operating funds are considered for agencies whose mission closely aligns with Safeco's--helping people live safer, more secure lives.

Organizations with missions that are not educational, health and safety-related or do not promote civic engagement are encouraged to request funding relevant to specific programs that give priority to these areas of focus.
