YMCA of Tacoma-Pierce County, Washington
(Nominating Agent: Maggie Wood, Fournier Group)
The YMCA is committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Safeco’s support of the YMCA of Tacoma-Pierce County’s Annual ‘Y’ Run for Kids will benefit the Tacoma Center YMCA’s LateNite program. Through LateNite activities such as basketball and swimming, the Tacoma Center YMCA encourages at-risk teens to stay healthy and off the street, and remain positively engaged in community.

Project Concern International, California
(Nominating Agent: Lawrence Weitzen, Alliant Insurance)
Project Concern International (PCI)’s mission is to prevent disease, improve community health, and promote sustainable development in the United States and around the world. Safeco’s support of PCI’s domestic efforts will benefit PCI’s youth empowerment and leadership work with San Diego’s East African refugee community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley, Idaho

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley work to enable all young people, especially young people who need their services most, reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Safeco’s support of the Boys & Girls Clubs' Giant Killer Program will allow the Clubs to serve at-risk youth who might otherwise not be able to utilize Club programs and services due to financial hardship or transportation barriers.

EarthCorps, Washington
EarthCorps is committed to building global community through local environmental stewardship. The corps program is an intensive, yearlong service learning experience for young adults from across the country and around the world. Safeco’s sponsorship of EarthCorps’ World Nights will support community gatherings that celebrate cultural diversity and action-oriented solutions to environmental challenges, and encourage members of the community to get involved in environmental restoration.

African American Partners for Prosperity (AAPP) is an organization committed to developing and promoting sustainable wealth creation within the African-American business community of the greater Puget Sound. Safeco’s sponsorship of AAPP’s Power Lunch Program and MBO (Minority Business Owners) Trade Conference is intended to further AAPP’s contribution to the solid growth and development of small- and medium-sized minority-owned businesses.

AchieveAbility, Pennsylvania

AchieveAbility works to end poverty and build stronger communities with the belief that education is critical to an individual’s ability to be self-sufficient. Safeco’s support for AchieveAbility’s Family Self-Sufficiency Program will contribute to the Program’s provision of comprehensive social services and educational support to single-parent, low-income families while they complete their formal studies, develop their life skills, and obtain the employment necessary for their economic independence.

STAGES ST. LOUIS is committed to providing performing arts education opportunities to the St. Louis community. Safeco’s support of STAGES ST. LOUIS’ Urban Arts Initiative will assist STAGES ST. LOUIS in their provision of free and reduced cost outreach programs to inner city schools and organizations serving underprivileged kids.

Motor City Blight Busters (MCBB) is a grassroots nonprofit committed to stabilizing, revitalizing, repopulating, and beautifying the neighborhoods of northwest Detroit. Safeco’s support of MCBB will contribute to activities of the organization such as a Public Art Workz program for adolescents and young adults, and Summer in the City program connecting students of all ages, organizations, and companies with volunteer opportunities in Detroit.
